To overcome this pandemic, leaders in healthcare must come together and utilize cutting-edge technology to accomplish that goal. Aventus Biolabs and UCF partnering to provide testing is a pivotal step in that direction.

What is it?

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

What are the symptoms?

How and when should I be tested?

If you are experiencing symptoms, consult with your physician or healthcare
provider. Only your physician or healthcare professional can order a test for COVID-19.

How long will it take to know results?

Typically, test results are reported electronically 24-48 hours from pickup of specimen. Positive results are called into ordering physician.

Visit our drive through testing location.

  • An Aventus Health representative will screen people for COVID-19 and answer any questions. Please contact 855-282- 4860 prior to arriving to be screened for testing.
  • The call center is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • If the Aventus Health representative determines you need to be tested, they will help set up an appointment.

Here is what you will need:

  • If you meet the criteria for testing, we will email you paperwork that will need to be completed and emailed back before arrival to the testing location
  • We will also need a copy of a valid state I.D. and insurance card.

Collection of Nasopharyngeal (NP) Specimen for COVID-19 Testing

1: Assemble supplies (Swab, viral transport medium, specimen label, biohazard bag). Have patient clean excess mucus from nasal passage with tissue.

2: Open swab container and remove swab, making sure not to contaminate tip. Do not use swabs that come with viral transport medium kit.

3: Holding swab with fingers on score line, gently insert into nostril along septum floor of nose extending straight back until the posterior nasopharynx is reached. Rotate swab several times while in contact with nasopharyngeal wall.

4: Place swab into viral transport medium and break off at indicator line. Replace cap and screw on securely.

5: Label sample and place in biohazard bag. Freeze specimen, or refrigerate if testing will occur within 72 hours of collection.
